    The School of Foreign Languages held an academic lecture - "5 Major Problems to Avoid When Applying for Social Science Fund Projects at all levels"

    In order to promote the in-depth study of social science theory and application countermeasures by teachers of the school, improve the quality of project declaration, and achieve new breakthroughs in national Social Science fund projects, on the morning of July 3, the School of Foreign Languages held a theme lecture titled "5 Major Problems to be Avoided when submitting Social Science Fund projects at all levels" in the Third Language room。The lecture was presided over by Song Qingwei, Dean of the School of Foreign Languages, and delivered by Professor Wu Jianping, an expert in communication review of the National Social Science Foundation and vice president of the School of Foreign Languages of Xiamen University。

    Wu Jianping shared the suggestions and experiences on the application of social science fund projects at all levels from four aspects: First, the problems in the topic selection are mainly unclear direction, lack of innovation, improper interpretation of meaning, and lack of support from previous results,The innovative topics generally include unexplored research fields, theoretical exploration of cutting-edge disciplines, new research perspectives on old problems, exploration of new materials or application of new methods, introduction and promotion of overseas new theories and new viewpoints。The second is the research status,He thinks,The research method depends on the nature of the research object or subject,Different research objects and research topics,The research methods are different,In the demonstration of the project,We can't just put forward Marxism as our guide,The specific methods to be used in the study of this subject should also be proposed。The main problems in this aspect are incorrect or incomplete review of the research status quo, almost no review of the domestic and foreign research status quo, unreasonable content arrangement, inaccurate text or not concise。Third, as far as the research content is concerned, the existing problems in this aspect are mainly weak academic standardization, insufficient demonstration, lack of core viewpoints and innovation in the subject, unspecific research methods and inaccurate positioning。Fourth, as far as the members of the research group are concerned, the main problems are the lack of communication with the relevant members of the research group, and the application for doctoral candidates needs the approval of the supervisor。

    After the expert lecture, a number of teachers combined the enlightening points in the lecture and their own problems in the project application, and Wu Jianping had an in-depth exchange。Song Qingwei, the dean of the school, encouraged teachers to keep up with the pace of The Times, to broaden their horizons, to carry out innovative research on national social development issues, to do deep basic theoretical research, and to put forward the research strategy of "forward design, reverse construction"。
